Coaches, school officials and school resource officers from both schools tried to calm the situation before Jackson police were called in for assistance.

Humboldt came away with an 80-62 victory.

Humboldt’s Jarred Walker sliced through the North Side defense to score 25 points and lead the Vikings to the victory in a loud and jam-packed gym at North Side.

The win keeps the Vikings' undefeated season alive with their 13th victory before the Christmas break.

Walker scored 17 of his 25 points after halftime, helping Humboldt take a four-point lead and stretch it to 11 points by the end of the third period.

In the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Vikings went up 16 points and never looked back.

Justin Pankey came off the bench to score 22 points and played big minutes in the post when Anthony Jones got in foul trouble early in the first half. Humboldt also got a strong offensive performance from Kortland Martin, who contributed 16 points.

North Side kept the game close in the first half behind the play of Mychael Robinson and Martavious Yarbrough, who both had 10 points in the half. Robinson finished with 20 points for the Indians on the night. Yarbrough finished with 12 points.

The overall athleticism and team speed for the Vikings proved to be too much for the Indians.
