Teacher
I graduated from Kirby High School in Memphis, TN in 1999. I went to Jackson State then transfered to University of Memphis. I graduated in the fall of 2011.
I have a Bachelors of Science degree in education. I have my teacheing license in Teaching All Learners and endorsements in Sped k-12 and Regular Ed k-6.
I have been to multiple Sped conferences as well as hourly workshops. I have attended multiple Regular Ed workshops also.
This is my first year with the Humboldt City School District. I am a Special Ed teacher working with grades 7th and 8th. I will teach a class of Life Skills and Intervention as well.
I started teaching in 2014. My first teaching postions was at Madison Oaks Academy. This is a residential (students live there) behavioral center. Most of the students were put in this center for behavior by DCS or judge ordered. I worked with 6th through 12th grade students. Around 50% or a little more of the population there had an IEP. At this facility behavior was the main focus. I worked at MOA for almost 3 years. I left in late July 2016 to teach at Northeast Middle School in Jackson, TN. My first three years there, I was one of the three teachers that had the Read180 rotation. I was the Math and Social Studies teacher for them. Last year they got rid of Read180 and I moved full traditional but still teaching Math and Social Studies. I also work After-school at South Gibson Elementary with homework for grades k -8th and have been there for 8 years. I’m not sure how that will work this year though.
My husband, Hunter, and I have been together since 2001. We live here in Humboldt and have two boys. Landon, who is 14 and a Freshman SGCHS. He plays football, basketball, and baseball. We also have a 4 year old, Jaxon. This child is wild and never stops. He keeps us on our toes. He doesnt know a stranger or any fear. He will be starting t-ball in just a couple of weeks. He loves all sports and anything his dad or brother do. He’s had a lot of health issues since he was born. He had his tonsils removed the day before Thanksgiving 2019, and Thank the Lord, he’s been well ever since. Currently, we only have a neighbor cat. His name is Scar. I say a neighbor cat becasue he really is the neighbor’s cat. He loves Jax and always comes to our house when he sees him outside.
I’m a ball mom. Most of our free time is spent at the football field, baseball field, or the basketball court. I love to watch my kid doing what he loves. We aso love to go fishing. I personally, like to go alone. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. Jax always wants to go though, so most of the time, we’re all there.
