About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from McKenzie High School in 2013.

I graduated the University of Tennessee at Martin in the Fall of 2017.

Degrees and Certifications:

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

I am currently working on my Master’s of Education at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Professional Development:

I took part in a First Year Teacher’s Initiatve Plan to help first year teacher’s get advice and resources to help in the classroom.

I have taken part in a Poverty Simulation for a workshop.

I have learned about Trauma Informed Practices as well.

Current Position:

I started teaching at Humboldt in September of 2019 and stayed through until school was let out in mid-March of 2020. I have been with the school almost a year now. I currently teach 8th Grade English Language Arts, but this year there will be a little twist. I will also be helping teach 7th grade English Language Arts!

Previous Position:

Prior to this school, the only other teaching experience I have is helping teach color guard for local high school marching bands. I had instructed McKenzie High School for about 3 years and West Carroll High School for 1 year. Teaching color guard to students I believe has helped me in many ways to give me experience to teaching in a classroom. Connecting with students and being able to reach them at their own level and help raise them above what even they thought they could do is a wonderful feeling, and I feel I bring that same learning experience from marching band into my classroom.

Family Information:

I am not married and I have no children currently. I have two dogs. One is named Blue and he is a Blue Heeler/Chihuahua mix. He is a little over a year old and I adopted him from the Lexington Animal Shelter on my birthday last year. Then I have another dog named Elijah, Eli for short. He is part Black Mout Cur but he is also mixed with something, I’m just not sure what. I got Eli while hiking at Natchez Trace State Park. Eli was dropped off by a different person and the park ranger offered him to me and I couldn’t resist his cute little face. He is estimated to be about 7 months old right now.

Personal Information:

I enjoy reading on my time off. I also like to take my two dogs, Blue and Eli, on walks at the park. I also like to spend time with my parents on the weekend. Practicing color guard when I get the chance is also a fun way to spend my time while I’m not teaching.
