I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Bible at Heritage Christian University. This was followed by a Master’s of Ministry from Freed-Hardeman University. Lastly, I picked up my Master’s in Education (certified 4-8) from Freed-Hardeman University. These degrees are reflective of my desire to be a resource to strengthen and encourage myself and others.
I am new to Humboldt City Schools, however, I have been teaching for several years now. I have taught primarily ELA and will be teaching 7th grade ELA for the year. I will also be teaching 8th ELA during the virtual portion of our year. I look forward to working with you and seeing some Viking Pride!
I have taught 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA. I have taught 7th grade math and science. I have also been active teaching Bible school in my home church and have served as a Den Leader, Cubmaster, and Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. All of these experiences have helped me to appreciate the power of the spoken and written word.
I am a father of four (three sons and one daughter). My oldest is married and has two children (a boy and a girl). My second is a college freshman at Freed-Hardeman this fall. My youngest two are a junior and a sophmore. Family is a major priority for me. They have been my best teachers and source of continued joy.
I am a big Star Wars and Marvel fan. I enjoy the movies that go along with these. I am an avid reader. I enjoy soccer and basketball (I’m an excellent spectator and only passable as a player). I grew up watching the Celtic’s in the Larry Bird era, so they always have a little place in my heart. Otherwise, I look for every opportunity to spend time with my grandchildren. This means that I am a fan through them of Paw Patrol, Baby Shark, and Thomas the Tank Engine.
